Emergency numbers

FIRE                            POLICE                      AMBULANCE

110                              112                             113

Remember to give the name of the kommune in which you live as well as your address, to the emergency services.  This is because the street map indexes use the kommune and not the place or post town to separate streets with the same name.

The national telephone number for all non-emergency calls to the Police is 02800.  To contact your local fire station or hospital for non-urgent help or advice check in the telephone book for the non-emergency number.

DID YOU KNOW?

In NORWAY every car should have an accident report form in case of a collision. If the form is missing from your car, they are free at petrol stations.

T
he driver should read the form in peace and quiet before any incident happens. If you should crash, you will probably get agitated, and there is a greater chance of making a mistake in filling out the form incorrectly. This, in turn, can lead to loss of money for the driver if you are unable to document who is the guilty party.

Both drivers must fill out as much as they can agree upon together on the front page and sign it. Then, each driver takes their part and a second part where you can add comments that the other driver would not like to sign (opinions and such like).

Chimney Sweeps

Fire prevention and chimney sweeps are very important in Norway as most of the houses are made of wood. The local authority – kommunearranges for all chimneys to be swept every other year. The chimney sweep also checks that there are smoke alarms, fire extinguishers or hose pipes as these are legal requirements.
